The 602 series fast thermocouple is an expendable immersion sensor used to measure the temperature of molten steel and iron in converters, electric arc furnaces, ladles and tundishes. The measuring junction is mounted in a refractory cap at the tip of a paper protection tube; the tube is plugged onto a measuring lance and immersed below the slag layer to obtain a reading within seconds.
