Introduction

Amsuo 4-Cutter SDS-Max Hammer Drill Bits — Four Edges for Reinforced Concrete

Large-diameter holes in structural concrete are rarely clean concrete. Rebar sits where you least expect it, aggregate varies from pour to pour, and the tool is delivering enough impact energy to punish any weakness in the cutting head.

The Amsuo 4-Cutter SDS-Max Hammer Drill Bits meet that with a cross-type solid carbide head carrying four cutting edges on the SDS-Max slotted drive (Ø18 mm shank, three open grooves) — the interface built for heavy rotary hammers in the 4 joule-and-above class. Four edges distribute the impact across four points of contact, so the head keeps cutting when it meets reinforcement instead of stalling on a single loaded edge, and the bore stays round at 25 mm and above.

Key Benefits

  • 4-cutter cross-type solid carbide tip (YG8X) — four cutting edges split the impact load across four points instead of two
  • Built for reinforced concrete — more cutting points on the borehole face means less stop-start when the tip meets a steel bar
  • Holds diameter on large bores — stable four-point seating resists the head lift that opens up a hole as diameter increases
  • Centering tip — accurate starts on deep holes without a pilot hole or center punch
  • Quadruple-helix flute — four deep channels clear the high dust volume of large-diameter drilling, keeping the tip cool and the bit from seizing
  • Dowel length indicator — lasered depth marks for exact anchor-set depth without a tape measure
  • 40Cr heat-treated body and shank — core toughness and hardness sized for the torsional loads of heavy-duty hammering; shank area additionally hardened against mushrooming
  • SDS-Max slotted drive — Ø18 mm shank with 3 open grooves; tool-free changes, axial float and no bit slip at high torque. Fits SDS-Max rotary hammers only
  • Imperial and metric sizing — standard SDS-Max ladder from 3/8" to 1 1/2" with metric equivalents

Recommended Applications

  • Large-diameter anchor and bolt holes — mechanical anchors, chemical anchors, base plates
  • Deep through-holes in reinforced concrete and structural walls
  • Rebar and post-installed connection work
  • Pipe and conduit penetrations through concrete
  • Heavy civil, foundation and industrial maintenance work
  • Tool fit: SDS-Max rotary hammers only (heavy-duty class, typically 4 J and above)

Quality & Certification

Produced in an ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 triple-certified facility — every bit is inspected before packing. Shank profile manufactured to the ANSI B212.15 SDS-Max standard.

FAQ

Why a 4-cutter head rather than a 2- or 3-cutter?

A cross-type four-cutter head puts four cutting edges on the borehole face, so the impact load is shared across four points instead of two. On large-diameter SDS-Max work that means more cutting contact per revolution, faster penetration in hard aggregate, and far less chance of stalling or chipping when the tip meets reinforcement steel. It is the mainstream choice for heavy-duty concrete drilling.

What is the difference between SDS-Max and SDS-Plus?

The interface, mainly. SDS-Max uses a Ø18 mm shank with three open grooves and suits heavy-duty rotary hammers, typically 4 joules and above. SDS-Plus uses a Ø10 mm shank with two open and two closed grooves for light-to-medium tools. The two systems are not interchangeable. We also supply this 4-cutter head on an SDS-Plus shank.

What sizes can you supply?

The standard SDS-Max ladder runs from 3/8" to 1 1/2" (roughly 9.5 mm to 38 mm). Send us the diameters, lengths and hole depth you need and we will quote the closest standard item or produce to your target specification.

Can these bits be private-labeled?

Yes — custom branding, packaging and bulk size-assortment programs are available. MOQ 500 pcs per size.

Why AMSUO — 4-Cutter SDS-Max Hammer Drill Bits

Four edges against reinforced concrete.

A hammer drill bit takes thousands of impacts per minute, and on an SDS-Max rotary hammer the energy behind each one is a step above what light and medium tools deliver. That energy is what makes large-diameter and deep-hole drilling possible — and it is also what makes the cutting head the limiting factor. A two-edge blade rocks on a single axis. A head that lifts on the rebound re-cuts the same material, opens the hole oversize and dulls the carbide unevenly. The Amsuo 4-Cutter SDS-Max series uses a cross-type solid carbide head with four cutting edges, seating the tip on four points of contact so the load is shared, the head stays flat to the borehole face, and the bit keeps cutting through the hit.

Why four edges matter more as diameter grows.

On a 25 mm or 32 mm hole, an oversize bore is expensive: the anchor either will not develop its rated capacity or the installer has to move up a size. Four cutting edges around the circumference keep the bit continuously supported as it rotates, so the hole comes out round rather than lobed. And because each edge carries a smaller share of the impact, the head is far less likely to chip when it glances off a reinforcement bar — the single most common cause of premature failure in structural concrete work. A centering tip lets the bit start precisely on the mark, with no pilot hole and no center punch, which matters more as hole depth grows.

Quadruple-helix flutes for a high dust volume.

A large-diameter hole produces a lot of abrasive dust, and SDS-Max drilling produces it fast. If it is not cleared as it forms, it packs around the shank, generates friction, heats the carbide and eventually seizes the bit. The Amsuo 4-cutter body uses a quadruple-helix flute: four deep channels that act as an Archimedes screw, pulling dust up and out on every rotation. The tip stays cooler, the operator applies less forward pressure, and the bit pulls itself into the work.

Depth control without a tape measure. Every bit carries a dowel length indicator, so anchor-set depth is read straight off the shank — useful on deep holes where marking out is slow.

Body and shank engineered for heavy-duty impact.

SDS-Max drilling puts enormous torsional and compressive stress through the bit. Amsuo fabricates the body from 40Cr heat-treated alloy steel, selected for core toughness with a hardened surface that resists abrasion from aggregate. The shank area receives additional hardening so the large Ø18 mm drive end does not mushroom or deform after repeated chucking. The bit is designed to fail safely — wearing the carbide tip gradually rather than shearing the shaft.

SDS-Max shank: the heavy-duty interface.

SDS stands for Slotted Drive System. The SDS-Max shank is Ø18 mm and carries three open grooves, giving tool-free bit changes, automatic axial float for full hammer transfer, and no bit slip under the higher torque of a heavy rotary hammer. The profile is manufactured to ANSI B212.15, so it locks into any SDS-Max rotary hammer from any major brand. The larger shank also has more bearing area in the chuck, which spreads the wear of heavy-duty use.

If your work runs to anchor holes in the 5–14 mm band on light and medium tools, the same 4-cutter cross-type head is available on an SDS-Plus shank (Ø10 mm, 2 open + 2 closed grooves) — ask us for the SDS-Plus version of this bit.

The wholesale view.

Downgrading to unbranded four-cutter bits is a false economy measured in oversized holes, wasted anchors and rework. For distributors and private-label programs, the Amsuo 4-Cutter SDS-Max series offers consistent head geometry batch to batch, imperial and metric sizing on one ladder, ISO triple-certified production, and packaging built for retail or industrial assortment.
